Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado announced that she has filed for divorce.
“It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband. I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process,” Boebert reportedly said in a statement.
She and her husband, Jayson Boebert, have four children.
The 36-year-old conservative congresswoman, who has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2021, chalked the split up to “irreconcilable differences” but noted that she would not be publicly discussing the divorce.
“I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult. This is truly about irreconcilable differences. I do not intend to discuss this matter any further in public out of respect for our children and will continue to work hard to represent the people of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District,” she noted.
Jayson Boebert told DailyMail.com via text message, “I am torn by this a very sad thing. A horrible moment in my life.”
“I love her too much to say anything bad about her. She is the mother of my children and my partner for the last 20 years. Please just let me have some peace,” he said.
Earlier this year, Rep. Boebert announced that she would become a grandmother this year at the age of 36.
