The House Judiciary Committee Republicans are urging the FBI to update them on the status of their investigation into the January 6 Pipe Bomb case. The FBI has enough information to identify a suspect, but the investigation into the pipe bombs has been slow. Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Bill Posey (R-Fla.) are concerned about the FBI’s priority of the case in relation to other January 6 investigations. Former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin, who worked on the pipe bomb investigation, claims that the bombs were inoperable and that the suspect used a MetroRail SmarTrip card to travel through the Washington metro system to northern Virginia. The suspect was caught on surveillance video wearing specific clothing, backpack, and gloves, but the FBI has yet to identify him. The congressmen cited the opinion of former FBI assistant director Christopher Swecker, who believes that there is too much information available for the FBI not to know who the suspect is.
