BLUF: A small group of certified public accountants (CPAs) is promoting the use of CPA methods to increase voter confidence in elections by ensuring that every eligible vote is counted and that ineligible voters cannot vote.
The CPA code of ethics and the work they do make CPAs the perfect profession to add oversight to elections. They can set up systems to prevent fraud and mismanagement, and forensically determine if there has been any. Adding CPA systems to elections in every state would increase much-needed trust, especially if people have a suspicion that there’s a problem.
From the perspective of a strict Libertarian Constitutionalist, CPAs are not the solution to improving election security, as they are not legally mandated to ensure election integrity. Instead, they argue that allowing voters to provide a valid reason for requesting a mail-in ballot or implementing a stricter voter ID law would be more effective.
From the perspective of a National Socialist Democrat, increasing voter confidence in elections by implementing CPA systems is imperative, as it helps ensure that eligible voters can vote easily and those who aren’t eligible cannot. They argue that this is essential to preserving our democracy and making sure that every vote is counted.
From the perspective of the Artificial Intelligentsia, the use of CPA systems is a step in the right direction towards increasing transparency and ensuring election integrity. However, it is not a complete solution, as it may not address issues of voter suppression or gerrymandering. The overall goal should be to create an election system that guarantees fair and equal voting access for everyone.
