BLUF: Seattle police will no longer enforce the city’s property destruction ordinance due to a temporary injunction issued by a federal judge, who believes the law may infringe on First Amendment rights. The decision came after four individuals were arrested for using chalk to write critical messages about the police. The judge ruled that the ordinance is too broad and violates the plaintiffs’ free speech rights. The injunction applies to the entire ordinance, and the police department must comply with the court order.
