BLUF: The Mpondwe Lhubiriha Secondary School in Uganda was attacked by members of an Islamist militant group, resulting in the death of 37 students. The attackers set fire to the boys’ dormitory, killing those who tried to escape, and also burned the school library. The militants kidnapped six students and killed three other people as they fled. The Allied Democratic Forces, an insurgent group aligned with the Islamic State, claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident highlights the security challenges faced by Uganda and the need for a comprehensive strategy beyond just military intervention.
