Police: 4 children found hidden in bedroom behind drag party featuring ‘alcohol, drugs, sex toys,’ and a dead man

BLUF: First responders discovered four children hidden in an apartment in South Boston, where a transvestite party occurred. The party involved a dead body, drugs, and sex toys. The man who had a medical emergency and later died was suspected of overdosing. Although the man’s death was not deemed suspicious, the apartment’s conditions were described as extremely unsanitary. Firefighters found several adult men dressed in women’s clothing and discovered the children hidden in a back bedroom. The children, ages 5 to 10, showed signs of abuse and neglect. The children were taken into the custody of the Department of Children and Families, and an investigation is ongoing. City officials have called for accountability and a review of safety protocols in Boston Housing Authority apartments. Democratic Gov. Maura Healey expressed her heartbreak over the situation and emphasized the importance of child safety.
