BLUF: A driver in Bell Gardens, Los Angeles, repeatedly rammed into a sheriff’s deputy’s vehicle while engaging in dangerous driving maneuvers. The deputy fired a shot in response, but the driver continued to ram into the vehicle. The driver was eventually detained and hospitalized with gunshot wounds, while the deputy sustained injuries but has been released.
The incident occurred at 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Eastern and Florence Avenues when the deputy noticed the driver of a white SUV speeding and doing donuts in the intersection. The deputy attempted to stop the driver, but the suspect intentionally crashed into the deputy’s patrol vehicle. The driver then proceeded to hit the deputy’s vehicle multiple times, even after the deputy fired a shot. Eventually, the deputy fired multiple shots as the suspect drove away, and the driver was later apprehended. Both the deputy and the suspect were hospitalized.
