The AI technology will not be for public use but only for the CIA and 17 other U.S. intelligence branches.
The tool will be designed by the CIA’s Open-Source Enterprise division. According to Randy Nixon, director at Open-Source Enterprise, this tool will be an indispensable aid in analyzing an overwhelming amount of intelligence data, possibly even embracing a chatbot feature. However, the CIA hasn’t yet disclosed the AI model it will base its tool on, inviting serious anxiety about potential information leaks.
Previous data collection attempts by the CIA from open sources have raised privacy issues. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence reflects how agencies might procure sensitive data like location data derived from cell phones from unregulated commercial vendors.
