Additional Details
Initially I said we had to be flexible with the date but now the forecast is all but perfect, with temps in the high 50s and low 60s expected. The morning may be a bit cold but we don’t start till 10:30 and should be in good shape by then. If you are registered you should have gotten an email about this post with our address, if you didn’t’ get it and paid for a spot let me know, I don’t want to publish my home address on the site.
What to Bring
- Proper clothing, this means boots or good work shoes, gloves are a great idea along with making sure you are warm enough and layers for when it warms up.
` - Dust mask, I will run a fan to exhaust dust but we will be cleaning the coop out and it can get dusty, you don’t want said dust in your lungs, it isn’t bad but something should be use. A bandana, a cloth mask, an N95, what have you. I use a simple gaiter mask like I use to prevent face sun burns when fishing.
` - Manure Forks – I have enough but if you have an extra it won’t hurt, forget shovels they are useless for this work. If you bring one mark it with tape or something and don’t forget to take it with you.
` - Water Bottle – Or something like it, we will have a igloo cooler of drinking water but a bottle will make sure you drink enough.
` - Food/Drink – The menu is pork shoulder and sausage, two of the sausages have no pork and I have plenty of it. If you need no pork for any reason let me know in an email and I will pull more of the Jerk Chicken and the Brisket Sausage for you. If your needs are beyond that in any special way, bring your own food. Last we will start at 10:30 and likely not break for meals till 1:00-1:30 so you should have breakfast before you get here or bring snacks or what have you if that is your bag. We may put out some chips and may be some breakfast bars but our planned meal will be about mid way through things. Just be prepared you are a prepper after all right?
Arrival Procedure – The email you get will give you the address if you are a paid registrant. I have two gates one in front of my house, one in my west field. Go to the gate for the field it will be open, pull in find a place to park and walk to the red shed that is the chicken/duck house. You can let yourself though the gate there and walk over the back porch of our house. The gate into the holding area will be shut, after you walk though it put it back that way. With the pasture gate open for cars/trucks if the dogs get over they they could get out and hit by a car or something. Basically our rule here is if a gate is closed put it back like you found it.
I’ll have coffee on the back porch and everyone can hang out and get to know each other. Arrive any time you want AFTER 9:45 AM and before 10:30.
Again the address and my cell number were sent to everyone I have a paid order from right before this was published. If you didn’t get it, let me know by email. And if you want to come I will leave registration open until COB Thursday or until we sell out. I think we have 4 tickets left right now.
