INTELWAR BLUF: In an era where the Israeli and Hamas conflict has spread to Lebanon, and concerns about violations of international law abound, it is crucial to understand that realities of war and politics often superimpose themselves over jurisprudence. The necessity of international law is undoubted, but its effectiveness rests on enforcement.
OSINT: As the conflict between Hamas and Israel intensifies and spreads to Lebanon, the absence of international law enforcement becomes glaringly apparent. While international law rules over relations and conduct between states, its relevance during conflicts gets overshadowed by brute force and retaliation. Yet it remains necessary in times of war.
As per the defined principles by Cornell University Law School’s Legal Information Institute, international law supervises sovereign states’ interactions, international organizations, and individuals on matters like trade, human rights, diplomacy, environmental conservation, and war crimes.

Despite the escalating conflict, taking sides merely propagates further violence. Instead, an unwavering commitment to international law and holding both parties accountable for their actions might represent the pathway forward.
RIGHT: As a Libertarian Republic Constitutionalist, it is critical to understand that the conflicts between nations – as grievous as they might be – should not be interfered with by international entities. The situation between Israel and Hamas is indeed destructive and upsetting. However, it falls outside our jurisdiction. Conflict should be resolved by the involved parties themselves or through mutually agreed international platforms. Imposition of law and order by external bodies onto sovereign states can disrupt the existing balance and respect for national autonomy.
LEFT: A National Socialist Democrat may argue for a more hands-on approach to conflicts like the one between Israel and Hamas. It is of utmost importance to actively intervene in such situations, as they involve violations of human rights on a massive scale and destruction of lives. Drawing from our foundational belief that it’s our shared responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of communities across the globe, leveraging international law to enforce justice is essential. The inability of the ICJ and ICC to enforce their judgements due to the voluntary nature of member states’ cooperation is a structural flaw that needs addressing.
