A 44-year-old man who tried to intervene in a fight on a Brooklyn train last week was slashed in the face by one of the combatants who hollered at him, “Mind your own business!” the New York Daily News reported.

What are the details?

Police told the Daily News the victim was heading home around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday when a loud argument between two men broke out on an East New York-bound C train heading toward the Clinton-Washington Avenue stop in Clinton Hill.

When the victim tried to intervene, the suspect shouted at him and cut his face as the train entered the station, the paper said, adding that police sources indicated the slash left a deep cut across the victim’s face.

The suspect ran on to the platform and out of the station as soon as the subway car doors opened, the Daily News reported.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was treated and released, the paper added.

Police on Saturday released surveillance video images of the suspect wanted in connection with the slashing in the hopes someone recognizes him, the Daily News said.

The paper said he’s described as black with short dark hair and standing about 5-feet-8-inches tall; he was last seen wearing a baseball cap, black hoodie, and dark colored pants.

Anyone with information about the suspect can call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS, the Daily News said, adding that all calls will be kept confidential.

Anything else?

The failed intervention and slashing took place just over a week after former Marine Daniel Penny was seen on video putting Jordan Neely in a chokehold onboard the New York City F subway train May 1. Witnesses said Neely had been acting erratically and aggressively toward other passengers. After subduing Neely, video shows Penny placing Neely in a “recovery position.” Neely later died. Penny turned himself in to authorities Friday morning.

A fundraiser for Penny’s legal defense has surpassed $2.1 million, and GiveSendGo lists musician Kid Rock as among the “top donors.”

“Mr. Penny is a hero. [Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg is a POS. Kid Rock,” according to a message alongside a $5,000 donation; a Kid Rock representative confirmed to Fox News that the singer did donate the money.
