Attorney Joshua Pond flew to Seattle on May 7 for a business trip. Just two hours after his arrival, he became the victim of a brutal knife assault in the Democrat-controlled city.
Pond was standing outside his hotel in downtown Seattle, waiting for a rideshare to take him and a colleague to dinner. While they were waiting, a “very disgruntled-looking” man approached Pond and tried to rob him.

Pond recalled that the man shoved him twice — and the shoves were “sharp.”
“As we waited on the sidewalk outside our hotel, I got a sharp shove on the sidewalk,” Pond told KOMO-TV. “I turned around and saw a very disgruntled-looking man. He said at that point something to the effect of, ‘Give me your cell phone.’
“The shoves were sharp, there was something different, so I reached back on my shirt and pulled out blood on my hands,” he explained. “That was the first time I realized I had been stabbed and the first time I knew he had a knife.”
Pond was rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors told Pond that he was fortunate to survive because the knife barely missed critical internal organs.
Police arrested Job Quimpo for the assault but only after a standoff that required the SWAT team. Quimpo has been charged with first-degree robbery. His bail was set at $300,000, according to public records.
Quimpo has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for assault, carrying a concealed dangerous knife, burglary, and resisting arrest, among other crimes.

Pond is just thankful to be alive.
“I’ve been to Seattle over the years and I never would have expected what happened,” he told KOMO. “I just didn’t expect any of these issues. Even in the days I was there subsequently, there were people wandering the streets shouting. I very much hope we can do better to alleviate crime, homelessness and addiction.”
Seattle is experiencing problems with violent crime, drugs, and homelessness. Top city leaders are Democrats, including Mayor Bruce Harrell and the Seattle City Council. The nine-seat council is comprised of eight Democrats and one socialist.
Tragically, a man was shot and killed outside the same downtown Seattle hotel where Pond was stabbed. The shooting happened two days after Pond’s assault.
