Joe Rogan mocked and ridiculed a new video campaign for Miller Lite beer that rejected the brand’s history of using attractive women in bikinis to advertise to men.
Rogan made the comments while interviewing author Jack Carr on his podcast.
“They were taking all those ads that we loved from the ’80s and they’re just putting them in shredders. That was their campaign today, I saw it this morning,” Carr said.
“It’s so stupid,” Rogan responded.
The two were referring to a resurfaced video campaign from the beer brand featuring comedian Ilana Glazer that offered to compost old advertisement materials that featured women in bikinis in order to support female beer brewers.
“It’s time beer made it up to women, so today, Miller Lite is on a mission to clean up not just their s***, but the whole beer industry’s s***,” Glazer said in the ad. “Miller Lite has been scouring the internet for all this s***, and buying it back.”
Rogan went on to mock the campaign for criticizing women wearing bikinis.
“Like there’s something wrong with women wearing bikinis. Those women wear bikinis because they look great!” he explained. “They like to look great. They take photos of them looking great, the girls see those photos of them in bikinis, they get excited.”
Rogan played the video ad for Carr so that they could mock it.
“They don’t learn! No one learns!” Rogan said, referring to the controversy surrounding Bid Light’s use of a TikTok transgender activist influencer.
After the video ended, he ridiculed Glazer’s assertion that women were instrumental in beer brewing historically and that it wouldn’t exist without women.
“I hate identity politics with a passion, I really do. It’s so stupid. Human beings made beer, OK? And some human beings look good in bikinis,” Rogan responded.
“It’s like, what are we doing?” he added. “I’d like to see a pie chart of how many women are actually involved in making beer or drinking beer.”
Rogan also expressed skepticism that the old ads could even be composted.
“Does paper turn into compost? Is that how it works? I mean isn’t there a bunch of chemicals and s***?” he asked.
A spokesperson for the parent company of Miller Lite released a statement to Fox News Digital about the controversy.
“This video was about two things: worm poop and saying women shouldn’t be forced to mud wrestle in order to sell beer,” the spokesperson said. “Neither of these things should be remotely controversial and we hope beer drinkers can appreciate the humor (and ridiculousness) of this video from back in March.”
Rogan’s guest disagreed with that assessment.
“Miller Lite is on a mission to make sure no one buys their stuff,” Carr said during the podcast.
