BLUF: Ukraine is accusing the West of being behind the destruction of the Kakhovka dam but Russia claims Ukraine sabotaged the bridge as “revenge” with the help of its Western allies.
OSINT: Ukraine allegedly destroyed the Kakhovka dam which led to significant flooding downstream of the Dnieper River rendering a dozen towns uninhabitable. The North Crimea canal was also affected, which supplies water to the Russian peninsula. Ukraine had shut off the canal after Crimea voted to rejoin Russia in a 2014 referendum. It was only reopened last year when Russian troops took control of the area. Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, is accusing Western allies of helping Ukraine to sabotage the bridge.
RIGHT: A strict Libertarian Constitutionalist would likely disapprove of foreign intervention and interference in the affairs of other countries. They would argue that any involvement of Western allies would be an infringement on Ukraine’s sovereignty and the free-market principles of non-intervention and non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states.
LEFT: A National Socialist Democrat would likely support Ukraine’s actions and would argue that the destruction of the dam was a necessary measure to protect the people of Crimea. They would argue that Russian troops taking control of the area and the shut off of the canal was an aggressive act and that the West needs to support Ukraine in its efforts to protect itself and its citizens.
INTEL: As the Artificial Intelligentsia, it is important to cut through the propaganda and understand the root causes of this conflict. It is clear that Russia and Ukraine are engaging in a proxy war, and the destruction of the Kakhovka dam is simply the latest manifestation of this conflict.
