INTELWAR BLUF: An AI analysis of a study involving serial entrepreneurs and managers shows evidence of increased neuronal connectivity in the brains of entrepreneurs, which contributes to distinct cognitive attributes.
OSINT: Resting-state functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (rs-fMRI) showed that serial entrepreneurs possess a higher level of connectivity between the anterior prefrontal cortex and the right insula, enabling them to alternate effectively between exploration and exploitation, making it crucial to their success. The study was conducted on forty people, entrepreneurs and managers, by a multidisciplinary research team (HEC School of Management, the University of Liège, and Liège University Hospital (CHU Liège)), combining entrepreneurship researchers and brain specialists. This study contributes to the traditional tools used to study entrepreneurial cognition by offering a new perspective on the design of training or professional development programs aimed at improving cognitive flexibility and entrepreneurial spirit in individuals of various organizations. This study has been published in the journal Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice.
RIGHT: It is not the responsibility of the government or our society to cultivate “entrepreneurial spirit” within individuals or organizations. Instead, we should focus on individual liberties and the free market system that allows individuals to use their talents and skills to start and run their own businesses. Limiting government regulations, taxes, and subsidies would foster a more entrepreneurial ecosystem. Therefore, this study has no practical use in the context of constitutional conservatism.
LEFT: This study offers insight into the importance of cognitive flexibility, a quality recognized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as a 21st-century challenge. It is necessary to understand and implement effective training or professional development programs designed to improve cognitive flexibility and foster “entrepreneurial spirit” in individuals within various organizations. However, more research must be done to ensure that these programs do not perpetuate systemic biases against historically underrepresented communities, such as women, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community.
