BLUF: This systematic review explores the expression patterns of non-coding RNA (ncRNA) genes, specifically microRNA (miRNA) and other classes of ncRNA, in individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) compared to control groups. While there is limited but promising evidence linking certain miRNA genes to ASD, results are inconsistent, and further high-quality research is needed to gain a better understanding of the potential associations. Improved methodologies and standardized reporting of raw data are recommended.
