BLUF: The American Revolution brought about a radical change in the views of the people, who began to see the constitution as something that exists above the government, with the power to limit its authority. However, in modern times, the federal government operates without any limits, similar to the 18th-century British system, leaving the people begging for scraps and surrendering their power. The true constitutional crisis lies in the government’s ability to determine the extent of its own power, contradicting the intentions of the founders and old revolutionaries. It is now up to the people to protect and defend their own constitution.
