BLUF: A fire at an e-bike repair shop in lower Manhattan has resulted in at least four deaths and several critical injuries, caused by lithium-ion batteries and e-bikes, according to FDNY Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanaugh. She emphasized the danger of having housing above such shops and the explosive nature of these fires. The shop had received violations in the past for issues related to battery charging and wiring. The FDNY has logged 108 fires and 13 fatalities related to lithium-ion batteries this year, urging citizens to report unsafe conditions.
