These losses were due to the films’ underperformance at the box office, and not licensing them to streaming platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime could have resulted in even more lost revenue for Disney. However, Disney’s CEO has recently changed, and the company is undergoing a strategic restructuring, including cutting 7,000 jobs, aiming to reduce costs and achieve savings of about $5.5 billion.
