BLUF: Far-right parties in western Europe are gaining ground, shaping mainstream right policies and even occupying ministerial roles, leading to a new normal with rising nativism and populism in the region. The appeal of these parties has been extended to new causes such as the culture wars, minority rights, climate crisis, and economic discipline, while the centre-right adopts far-right talking points. The decline of a certain kind of left and the promise of control and order by the far right have shifted voters’ preferences.
