BLUF: New Yorkers are experiencing an influx of flying bugs, specifically aphids, due to a smoky haze caused by nearby Canadian wildfires. Despite being a nuisance, the aphids do not pose any health risks. Experts believe that the warm winter may have caused the early arrival of these insects. While the smoky haze is unrelated to the aphids, it does contribute to poor air quality in the city, which can be harmful to individuals with respiratory conditions.
